At a time when football is getting set to come back gradually, players who have been injured for most of the season have all but recovered. It’s a different scenario for Nigerian and Slavia Praha forward Peter Olayinka who suffered a serious injury in training on Wednesday.
Slavia Praha confirmed that Olayinka broke his calf bone and has since undergone a successful operation and he is expected to be out for three months.
After an unfortunate move, the Nigerian midfielder resigned from training and was immediately taken to the Central Military Hospital in Stresovice. “Unfortunately, the examination showed a fracture of the calf bone. In the early evening, Peter successfully underwent surgery, “explains club doctor Petr Krejci Jr.
“We wish Peter the calmest possible convalescence and an early return to the field. It is a big blow for him and the whole team, “adds Michal Bycek, the club’s spokesman.
Peter, 24, has contributed 4 goals in 19 games for the table-topping Slavia Praha in the Czech first division league known as the Fortuna League.
The Ibadan born pacy forward also scored one goal this season in the UEFA Champions League. The solitary goal coming against Inter Milan at the San Siro on matchday one.
Get well soon Peter!
