Premier League chief executive Richard Masters, has expressed confidence in the return of the league by June.
“There is some momentum. We’ve taken the first step. Its great for everybody, including the fans, to see our players back on the training ground.”
Masters was delighted with the return of players to training but can’t still guarantee a date for the league restarting, and depending on a lot of factors, the league can as well be curtailed.
However, culture secretary Oliver Downden is also confident that the UK government will approves the return of contact training in elite sports this week.
Masters is not getting carried by that saying until it’s safe to do so, Premier League wouldn’t take such step.
“We wouldn’t have taken the first step to get back to training if we weren’t convinced we had created a very safe environment for our players,” he said.
“It is the first step and we have to be sure when we go to contact training we have completed those processes.”
