The Bayer Leverkusen ace was impressing before the coronavirus hit and called a halt to the Bundesliga season for two months. And he has picked up exactly where he left off prior to the break.
The midfielder had notched ten goals and seven assists in 34 games for the German side prior to the season being suspended, and, if anything, he has got even better after the break.
Havertz scored twice on the Bundesliga’s return last weekend in a 4-1 win over Werder Bremen, and he has notched another double in Saturday’s game against Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League already ahead of the summer transfer window opening, with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool tipped to make a move.
Arsenal have previously been linked with the young midfielder, although they have not been so far this season.
But if the supporters had their way they would jump for him in a heartbeat.
Mesut Ozil is a divisive figure in the Arsenal ranks, and many fans have been saying on Twitter that they could offer the German to Leverkusen in a swap deal for Havertz.
Havertz’s first goal on Saturday came from a rapid counterattack after Monchengladbach conceded possession cheaply near halfway. Karim Bellarabi dribbled down the right inside channel before feeding Havertz, who stayed just onside.
The 20-year-old took a touch to control before calmly sending the ball between the legs of the hosts’ goalkeeper Yann Sommer from about eight yards.
His second came from the penalty spot, after a VAR assist.
