Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has revealed why his time at the King Power Stadium was not a success despite joining on a club record signing from CSKA Moscow.

The former Kano Pillars star faults the form of Algerian winger, Riyad Mahrez as the reason why he fails to blossom at the premier league club.

According to reports, the Nigeria International revealed he was told by the Foxes that the Algerian winger would leave before he joined in 2016.

Musa who sighted the presence of Mahrez has the reason why he move to Leicester City was not a success said, if he was informed the Manchester City winger won’t leave – he would have stayed in Russia.

“When I came, we had a lot of wingers at Leicester City, yet, I still got the chance to play,”

“Before they signed me at Leicester City, they told me Riyad Mahrez was leaving.”

“If I knew that Mahrez was going to stay, I would not have join Leicester, I would have stayed at CSKA Moscow.”

Musa who joined Leicester City for a fee of £16.6 from CSKA Moscow played 21 games for the Foxes in his two years stint before he was loaned back to Russia in 2018.

After a fruitful second term in the Russia premier league, he joined Saudi Arabian side, Al Nassr in 2018.

Musa who made his debut in 2010 replacing John Obi Mikel in an Africa Cup of Nations encounter has been capped 91 times by the Eagles, scoring 15 goals.
