The 32 years home ground of the Shooting stars Sports Club (3Sc) of Ibadan will be renovated soon, according to the sports commissioner of the state.
The 28 year old commissioner, Asiwaju Seun Fakorede made this known on Saturday while featuring on a sport programme hosted by Boluwaji of BCOS,Ibadan, Nigeria. The sporting arena built in 1976 was renamed Lekan Salami Stadium by the then Oyo state Military Governor Colonel Ahmed Usman in Honour of the Late Chief Lekan Salami.
“Apart from football, the lekan salami stadium is also used for other sporting activites such as athletics, basketball, volleyball boxing and others. While revealing the score card of the Governor’s administration in the last one year in the area of sport and youth development.” the commissioner said.
He further assured that the township stadium Olubdan stadium and Soun Ogbomosho Stadium will be transformed to modern sports complex. Honorable Fakorede also assured that he would focus on the development of sports at the grassroots through restoration of the annual Governor’s Cup being Competed by Secondary Schools in the state.
