FIFA already gave approval that teams could substitute up to five players as the return of football continues to gather pace. The English league stamped their own approval today.
Premier league clubs have approved the use of five substitutions when the league resumes instead of three. Nine players will also be allowed on the bench instead of the usual seven.
World football governing body FIFA made a change in the substitution rule of the game in order to protect player’s welfare and allow them manage their fitness as most leagues prepare to finish 2019/2020 season quickly in a short time.
The five substitutions will however be done three times over an entire duration to avoid too much disruption of the game.
Premier League is set to return on June 17.
