Joint Eredivisie top scorer Cyriel Desser, is set to complete a move to Belgian Jupiter league side, KRC Genk from Heracles, for a reported fee of €4m.
Desser netted 15goals and created five assists in 26 appearances for Heracles at the 2019-2020 Belgian Jupiter league, that was halted due to the Covid19 pandemic.
Heracles bought him from fellow Dutch side, Utrecht, for €1 last year and he scored five goals in 15 appearances for the Utreg.
He was linked with a move to various European teams but the suitors were put off by Heracles five million euros valuation.
The 25-year-old Tongeren- born forward, will come in as a straight replacement for Tanzanian ‘Samagoal’ Mbwana Samatta, who left to join Premier League club, Aston Villa, during the window transfer season in January.
Born to a Nigerian dad and a Belgian mom, his exploits with Heracles earned him a call up to the Super Eagles for the 2021 African Cup of Nations Qualifying fixtures against Sierra-Leone in March, but couldn’t make it due to Coronavirus pandemic.
One can say he will get first hand information about the Super Eagles locker room from Stephen Odey and Paul Onuachu who he will be teaming up with in KRC Genk.
