Barcelona who is already an old ageing team could get a bit older if Barcelona’s proposed swap deal with Juventus goes through.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio on Wednesday reported that the Catalans will swap 23-year-old Arthur for 30-year-old Miralem Pjanić, in a team that now have a starting XI with an average age of 29.

Victor Font who is a candidate for Barcelona presidential election, that is set to hold in 2021 is worried that recent deals made by the current board will result in a decline similar to that experienced by Ac Milan.

AC Milan are one of the world’s most succesful clubs but it declined heavily after winning the UEFA champions League in 2007. Their last Scudetto came at the beginning of the decade, way back in 2010/2011, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading them to their last title as top scorer that season.

Milan’s problems on the pitch, their signing of managers, and their large spending have all reflected the issues at the very top of the club’s hierarchy.

Since 2014, Milan have had three different owners, from former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to shady Chinese consortium Sino-Europe Sports and the present owner, American-based Elliott Management.

With the help of former Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis along with many directors. Ac Milan of recent have made numerous big signings that didn’t leave up to expectations, the club transfer policy has let them down on a number of occasions in recent times.

They have frequently lavished cash on big names who were past their best and have also failed to get the best out of a number of expensive additions, which Is probably the chief reason for their dramatic fall from grace to grass.

Victor Font who as been a critic of Bartomeu’s policies as Barcelona’s president said on a Podcast with Sports & Life podcast

“We have it quite clear that if there is no project similar to ours, we are in danger of becoming the new Milan, a club with many titles that no longer competes”.

Font said his plans is to improve the club’s financial situation by attracting experts in fields like business, technology, e-commerce and so on.

“We are looking for profiles of managers with real experience to lead the club. People who come from the world of sports, people who come from the world of business, technology, audiovisual content, e-commerce, where a club like Barcelona must generate resources.”.

He also said that Xavi will be the cornerstone of his project. Unlike the current board, the presidential candidate already as a plan in mind for the next ten years. He has been working on his ‘Si al Futur’ campaign for two years now.
