The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The biennial tourney which was slated for January 2021 in Cameroon has been shifted by a further year and will now take place in 2022.

In a virtual meeting held today by the CAF Executive Committee, the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) for the year 2020 was also cancelled.
A further decision was made on the interclub competitions. The CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The semifinals of both competitions will be played over one leg at a neutral venue instead of the usual two-legged affair.

Meanwhile, there is a new competition to be introduced which is the CAF Champions League for women.

CAF is looking to create an interclub competition among women leagues in Africa.
