Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor has had his contract terminated by Paraguayan side Olimpia Asunción, due to his inability to join the club after the lockdown.

The former Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City forward returned to Lomé, his hometown on the 22 of May, to self isolated. And was supposed to return before 30th of June to sort his future but he couldn’t do that because of the lockdown.

Adebayor made four appearances for the Paraguayan side, he was sent off in his last game against Defensa y Justicia in a Copa Libertadores game.

The club’s treasurer Miguel Brunotte told ‘AM650’ in Asunción.

The club’s legal department is already working on sorting the papers”,

They don’t give times anymore. It could be official in no time”. He said.

The 35-year-Old contract was terminated because of his inability to make it back to Paraguay. His club have resumed training and he is yet to join them. For that, they had terminate the contract on a mutual agreement.
