English Premier League side Arsenal have successfully tied Anglo Nigerian sensation Bukayo Saka to the club for a long term contract and that’s a good news that the Gunners faithfuls would be delighted to hear.
The Arsenal no 77, who was supposed to be out of contract at the Emirates at the end of next season, has been exceptional this term and has signed a long-term deal with the club.
Bukayo has had a phenomenal breakthrough season at Arsenal and him commiting himself to a new long-term deal has sent away fears of the fans that he would move to a greener pasture this summer.
Mikel Arteta is a fan of the young lad as he has used him in various positions this season and he seem to have had his coach’s trust.
In an interview with the club’s website, Arteta said,
“Bukayo is a talented and intelligent young player. He has impressed me with his work ethic and attitude to learn and adapt, and it has paid off in his performances. I am excited to continue working with him to develop him further, and for him to help us achieve our goals”
Technical director of the team, Edu also said something similar to what Arteta said.
“This is something everyone involved wanted to happen and we are delighted that Bukayo has signed a new long-term contract. He’s making great progress and is one of a number of young players who have developed through our academy. This is so important for us as we move forward as a club.”
The 18-year-old tweeted “London is my home. Arsenal is my team. I’m so happy to finally announce my contract extension. I love playing for this club and I’m looking forward to what the future holds. The hard work continues so I can continue living my dream.”
The Hale End Academy product has found the back of the net three times and has provided 11 assists for the Arsenal team this season. He’s being also nominated among the top 100 young footballers for the Golden Boy Award.
Saka is eligible to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria and also the 3lions of England.
