They have dominated the Western Conference in terms of winning league titles which is sixteen, just one shy of Boston Celtic who have seventeen titles. The Lakers have been blessed in the past with players like Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.
In the early 2000, LA Laker’s were one of the most dominating team in the NBA league with a player like Kobe Bryant been the key figure of the team and driving then to win five NBA Championship titles.
In the last seven years, LA Laker’s have been struggling to make the NBA play-off in the Western conference with some players getting over aged, some leaving the club and coaches been changed time to time. The worst that was happening during the team transition was to see their city rival in Los Angeles – LA clippers team who were able to qualify for the Western conference twice 2013/2014, 2014/2015 season ahead of LA Lakers.
In 2018, Lebron James was signed in off season to LA Laker’s for $154 million from Cleveland Cavaliers on a 4 years deal with a salary of $37 million. This was a bold step from the LA Lakers in the are building process of the team to move back to the top, Lebron James the “power forward” command a huge CV (curriculum Vitae) when it comes to winning league titles in the NBA season winning it thrice with two different basketball team (once with Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and twice with Miami Heat in the year 2012, 2013).

Last season, under the tutelage of Luke Walton and Lebron James as the focal point in the team, they weren’t able to qualify for the western conference because they where 10th in the league standing. This was the first time in Lebron James career that he didn’t go to the playoff due to the team poor run of form.
In the off season LA Lakers changed their manger to Frank Vogel, The 45-year- old coach had been the manager of Orlando Magic for two years from 2016 to 2018. Frank Vogel added two key signing to the LA Lakers team to assist Lebron James in the transition process. The first signing was from New Orleans Pelican who have agreed to a deal to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first round picks – including the No. 4 overall in 2019 Draft and the other was Avery Bradley from Memphis Grizzlies for $9.7 million.
The center player [Davis] and the point guard [Bradley] combined well with Lebron James in 2019/2020 season to be at the top of the western conference and in a run of good form to qualify for the play off before the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic which made all sporting activities suspended.
As the basketball season resumed after four month lay out due to the pandemic, with games been rescheduled and fans been absent in the stadium. The first match of the LA Lakers will be against city rivals LA clippers which will be on July 30 which will continue the form of the LA Lakers.
