Barcelona and Spanish legend Xavi Hernandez, have reportedly agreed a £5.4m a year deal with Barcelona, to take over from Quique Setien as the new Barcelona manager.

According to a Spanish news outlets Mundo Deportivo; a firm and solid agreement have been finalised, which will see the Barcelona’s legend Xavi, take up the managing role from Quique Setien at the end of the season.

Quique Setien has come under immense pressure lately after Barcelona drew their last two matches against Celta vigo and Atletico Madrid respectively, allowing their arch rivals Real Madrid top the laliga table with four points.

Xavi, who currently manages Al Sadd in Qatar, as been tipped to earn £5.4m per year from his new Barcelona’s contract which will take place at the end of the season.

Xavi who is 40year old, was former Barcelona midfielder, who joined Barcelona at the age of 17, and developed through the club’s academy before making 767 senior team appearance for the club.

He took over Al-Sadd last summer after bringing an end to his trophy-laden time on the field with the same club.

However, Barcelona appear to have come knocking once again after xavi rejected Barça’s offer when they were searching for Valverde’s successor at the beginning of the year.

The former midfield maestro admitted last month that he and his coaching staff are preparing to take charge of Barcelona in the future.

The four-time Champions League winner told a video conference: ‘The biggest hope I have now is to be Barca’s coach and get Barca back to winning ways”

Not me but these players and Barca triumphing. And as a consequence, our technical staff, who are preparing for it a lot and it makes us really excited”

Setien is now fighting for his future, with many expecting him to be sacked at the end of this season.

Xavi was part of the Spanish team that won the 2010 FIFA World cup tournament in south Africa.

If xavi eventually take the position as the coach of barca, he will surely be the ideal man for Barcelona rebuilding process.
