Formula One is set to confirm that Portimao circuit in Algarve, Portugal as part of its 2020 calendar season.

The season resumed last week at the Red Bull Ring in Austria with Valteri Bottas of the Mercedes winning the race.

Eight Grand Prixs have been confirmed prior to the start of season, Portugal is set to host its first GP since 1996.

The Portimao circuit was opened in 2008 and yet to stage a Grand Prix despite holding the required grade 1 licence.

In the same vein, the Chinese, Bahrain, Russian and a first ever Vietnam and Mugello GP could also be added to the 2020 season stretching it to 14 races if talks presently going on are agreed on.
