Karim Benzema’s first half goal from the spot and Marco Asensio 50th minute strike was all Real Madrid needed to win Alaves and go four points clear of laliga title holders Barcelona.
Deportivo Alaves conceded an 11th minutes penalty after Ximo Navarro tripped down Ferland Mendy in the box and Karim Benzema stepped up to convert the penalty, sending Alaves goalkeeper the wrong way.
Alaves had different scoring chances in the first half but didn’t convert it, though Madrid had Courtious to thank after couple of excellent saves.
Real Madrid started the second half dominating play as usual, they didn’t wait much longer to get their second goal of the day when Marco Asensio scored from a Benzema’s cross, VAR did reviewed the goal but it stands.
Real Madrid had a total number of 13 shots with 8 going on target.
Real Madrid move closer to the laliga title as they go four points clear off Barcelona with just three games left. Alaves are now just three points above the drop zone with three fixtures left and still very much in danger.
The pressure is now back on Barcelona as they head to play Real Valladolid on Saturday evening.
