According to reports emanating from Germany, Liverpool are leading the race to sign Schalke04  midfielder, Weston McKennie, who is keen on a move away from the German side.

Liverpool have been intensely linked with the United State International for weeks now, but if reports in Germany is anything to go by, then Anfield should be McKennie’s next destination.

The 21 year-old has 32 appearances in all competitions for the Royal Blues in the 2019/20 season as they finished in an unimpressive 12th place.

McKennie, is valued at $25 million. The Reds will have to battle fellow Premier League rivals, Wolverhampton Wanderers and City rivals Everton to land the midfielder.

Klopp who has been a long-time admirer of the player, will be looking to seal some deals this summer, in a bid to defend their title next season. Liverpool will not spend big this summer due to the non-buoyancy of finances in the clubs, after the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They could go for cheap McKennie whose potentials are undoubted. He is an enticing option to add some depth to their midfield.
