When UEFA landed the 2-year ban on Manchester City months ago, elation was up in the air. Fans of rival clubs in the Champions league and English Premier League, had that sense of relief, all because of the threat Manchester City pose to oppositions.
It came as a huge heartbreak when UEFA on Monday morning stated that the ban slammed on Manchester City have been upheld. While it was not a good news for rival fans, excitement rocked the Blue side of Manchester.
Reactions have trailed this trend, fans are obviously gutted.
Statement from UEFA
‘UEFA has taken micrscopic look into the decision taken by Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to limit the punishment slammed on Man City by UEFA’s independent Club Financial Control Body for alleged breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations.
‘UEFA noticed that the Court of Arbitration for Sport administrators found out that there was insufficient conclusive evidence to uphold all of the CFCB’s conclusions in this specific case and that many of the alleged breaches were time-barred due to the 5 year time period foreseen in the UEFA regulations.
‘In recent years FFP rules has played a massive role in ensuring the protection of clubs including helping them to become financially sustainable and UEFA and ECA remain committed to its principles. UEFA will be making no further comments on the matter.’
Lets take a look at fans reactions after that decision from UEFA.
1) A Football pundit, tweeted a rhetoric, that as well looked like a satire.
“How fair is UEFA fair play?”
2) This tweep identified as @stevenmcinerney put into considerations, the fact that, both UEFA and FIFA are corrupt, while admitting that, the game of Football is business.
“The most adorable thing is that so many fans of rival clubs think their clubs are all shiny and clean, and it’s just big bad City breaking them. Don’t be so naive. It’s a game run by billionaires ffs. They’re all pushing the rules wherever they can. So are UEFA and FIFA.”
3) This user, dwelled on the failure of UEFA and FIFA as a body.
“FFP was only ever an attempt by the establishment (G14) to protect their interests, pull up the drawbridge & stop anyone else from ever accessing their old boys club with the backing of a corrupt organisation in UEFA. They have failed.”
4) This user tagged UEFA a corrupt body.
“F*ck UEFA. FFP is so damn useless. Banning the likes of Milan and Galatasaray in European football and allowing money clubs like Man Shitty to compete in Europe.
What a corrupt organisation.”
5) Like every other user, this one further stressed on the fact that, there is corruption in football.
“I wonder how much @ManCity put in them brown envelopes that they handed over to @UEFA It’s just proves that there is corruption in football!”
6) This user jocularly stated how the decision will affect Chelsea.
“Chelsea definitely must’ve been very sad to hear this disturbing News coming from the appeal court. That Well, Europa awaits them, congratulations to Manchester City. And thanks to UEFA”
Since Pep Guardiola took charge of the helm of affairs at the Etihad, he as turned them into tough team to beat, they have clinched all domestic titles in England, plus defending their English Premier League title won two seasons ago.
Manchester City are arguably the best team in England, right now, they have been a torn in the flesh of teams in England.
