Laliga champions Fc Barcelona have reportedly completed the signing of 19-year-old forward, Gustavo Maia from Sao Paolo.
The Spanish giants had already pay out €1 million to have priority to sign the left winger and have now paid up the extra €3.5m to bring him to the Camp Nou, according to ESPN Brazil.
Barcelona have been tracking the 19-year-old for quite some time now after his performances in the Sao Youth Football Cup in January caught the eye of Barcelona and many other top clubs including Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.
The Catalan giants were quick to snap up Maia’s services before other clubs came calling, with the teenager not yet having played a professional game in his home nation before securing a switch to Europe.
The 19-year-old youngster joined Sao Paulo as a 14-year-old lad and he scored 30 goals in 36 appearances throughout 2018 before adding another 21 to his tally the following year.
He will join Barcelona B once he arrives from Brazil and will get the chance to impress with García Pimienta’s side next season.
Former Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Neto is currently the only other Brazilian in Barcelona’s squad following the departure of Arthur to Italian giants Juventus.
Barcelona have a good history when it comes to bringing the best out of South American Brazil talents and will be hoping that Maia can become another superstar for the future.
The Brazilian youngster will be following the footsteps of some great iconic players like Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Neymar among the other Brazilian legends of the past who had remarkable careers at the CAMP NOU that cemented their respective places in the world of football.
