Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook has tested positive for coronavirus.
The result came when the Rockets were about to leave for Florida, where there NBA 2019/2020 season has been rescheduled to be concluded. Westbrook made his status known via his social media handle on Monday.
“I tested positive for Covid-19 prior to my team’s departure to Orlando”, I’m currently feeling well, quarantined and looking forward to rejoining my team-mates when I am cleared.
“Thank you for all the well wishes and continued support. Please take this virus serious. Be safe.
The former Oklahoma City Thunder star status quo will come as a setback for coach Mike D’Antonio who is banking on the former MVP winner and James Harden ahead of July 31 NBA resumption.
Rockets preparations was dealt a further blow as forward Bruno Caboclo broke quarantine rules in Florida.
The 24-year-old has been ordered to self-quarantine in his hotel room for a further eight days.
Meanwhile, James Harden is expected to join up with the team in the coming days.
