Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, has become the oldest player to win the Premier league golden boot award.
The former England striker achieved the feat at the age 33 years and 198 days. Vardy finished the 2019 /2020 Premier league season with a total of 23 goals one more than his closest rival and last season’s joint winner Aubameyang who finished on 22 goals.
The previous record holder of the oldest player to win the Premier league highest goal scorer award was Didier Drogba who at the age 32 won the league’s highest goal scorer in 2009/2010 season.
Vardy has continued to be one of the league’s best finishers over the years. He is known for his explosive pace to run past defenders with ease and ability to find the back of the net.
The 33-year-old striker has been a perfect definition of the word “Age is just a number” as even at age of 33 he can beat any defender in the league on a race once the ball is played to him through the channels.
Vardy was a key member of Leicester City’s Premier league title winning squad of 2014/2015 which also includes Manchester City’s play maker Riyad Mahrez and Chelsea’s Ngolo Kante.
