Chelsea are close to signing Kai Havertz from the Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, this is according to Jacob Steinberg and Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian.

The English Premier League have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen, the German club were hopeful of keeping Kai Havertz to play their remaining Europa League campaign, this now seems unlikely.

According to report, the Blues have made €80 million available to sign the German international including add-ons. With the Blues having qualified for UEFA Champions League next season, they will be able to push through a deal and continue the negotiation next week.

Chelsea have already gotten Hakimi Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from Bayer Leverkusen and will be hoping to get Kai Havertz.

The 21-year-old German international was impressive in the 2019/2020 German Bundesliga season making 30 appearances scoring 12 goals.
