German international striker Timo Werner, has expressed his delight after joining Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.

Chelsea completed a deal worth 45 million pounds to sign the former RB Leipzig goal poacher few weeks ago. He watched from the stands when Chelsea defeated Wolverhampton last weekend in their final Premier league game of the season to secure a Champions league football next season.

He spoke to the club’s official website to explain what it feels like to join the club and has this to say “I know of the players before when they won the Champions League with Drogba, with my new manager Frank Lampard, Petr Cech as the technical advisor. It is like a little dream for me but I want to become, not the same player like them, but I want to be part of a new era here so I will play to try to give my best.”

Werner also said Lampard’s style of play and personality was a big reason why he chose to leave Germany for the Premier League “He (Lampard) was the main point,” he added. “We talked a lot about things like system, like how he wants to play and sees me playing, and how the system fits to me. He is a really nice guy who not only told me what he wants from me as a player because he wants to help me as a guy. He knows me now a little bit better and it fits very good between us and now I am happy to be here.

The 24 years old Werner is capable of playing at any position in the front three of the attack and has the ability to find the back of the net with ease. He has already started training with his new teammates alongside new recruit Hakim Ziyech who joined from Ajax as they look to be in a very good shape ahead of next season.
