Few days after moving to Scottish premier league side Glasgow Rangers, Nigeria Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has resumed training with the team, OJB Sport reports.
Former Mainz 05 defender parted ways with the English premier league side Brighton Hove Albion on Sunday after ending his loan spell with English championship side Wigan Athletic.
His one deal with Rangers was announced on Monday and with option of another extension.
The 32 year old lanky defender resumed training with the rest of the squad on Wednesday ahead of the UEFA Europa League match next month.
Balogun arrives in Glasgow with experi4nce both in the German Bundesliga, English premier league and English championship.
He expressed his excitement resuming training with the team through his social media handle and was extremely excited.
“Great feeling to finally get started and join up with the squad this week RangersFC ” he wrote.
Balogun linked up with the team to create more competitive atmosphere in the defence following injury to the team centre back Niko Katic.
He played a key role last season as Wigan battled under incredible pressure to try and secure their safety in the championship following their issues around ownership.
Although born in Germany, Balogun has represented Nigeria’s Super Eagles 32 times and has attended 2 major international competitions for Nigeria, Russia 2018 World Cup and 2019 African Cup Of Nations in Egypt.
Balogun will play alongside another Nigeria’s Super Eagles player who is already an established player in the team next season.
