English premier league side West Ham United is set to rival Scottish premier league giant Glasgow Rangers for the services of Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward Josh Maja, OJB Sport reports.

Maja made his breakthrough in the championship at Sunderland under under present West Ham United coach David Moyes, making his debut in September 2016, before leaving the Stadium of Light in January 2019 to join French side Bordeaux.

Rangers have Maja on their shortlist of strikers to replace their star frontman Alfredo Morelos who is move to French Lique One side LOSC Lille is almost done.

Moyes is also weighing up a move for 21 year-old Maja as he aims to add firepower and create competition in his squad after keeping West Ham in the premier league.

Maja is not pushing for a move but the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic may force the French side Bordeaux to sell in order to raise funds.

Maja was Bordeaux’s joint-top scorer, netting eight times in just eight starts, with a further 16 appearances coming as a substitute, before the French season came to a premature end in March.

Maja who made his debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles against Ukraine in November 2019, against Nîmes, Maja scored his first professional hat-trick and also provided an assist in a 6–0 win, December 2019.
