Arsenal has expressed their interest to sign Brazilian born Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.

According to reports from @TeleFootball and @Guaurdian the North London club has started talks with the player’s representative over a switch to Emirates stadium this summer. And a contract offer that will double his current weekly wages is on the table as well. Arsenal will submit an official bid to Sevilla this week as reported by the same source as well.

The former Nantes man joined Sevilla last summer and has made a total of 35 appearances for the club. He is a typical aggressive and no nonsense defender with a very good physicality and adapting to the English Premier league’s aggressive type of play wouldn’t be a problem for him. He has been an ever present in the Seville side in the recent concluded season and his impressive performances has attracted interest from top European clubs.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta wants to sign a Center back and is willing to let go some of the club’s current centre defenders including Rob Holding, Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi in other to create space for new arrival at the heart of the defence.

Arsenal won the FA Cup last weekend and this ensures they will be competing in European football next season. And qualification for European competition will give the club an edge in pursuit of their transfer targets as top players always make playing in European competitions one of the determinants in choosing a club.
