Borussia Mönchengladbach central defender Mathias Ginter spoke to Kicker confirming his stay at the club despite offers from other clubs.

He said “I will definitely stay in Gladbach,”said the German. “The current team has great potential. The club is in the process of building something up with its great fans and the environment. I still have a contract.”

Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea have all shown interest in signing the 26-year-old German international, who have a contract with Mönchengladbach until 2021. The club have an option to extend his contract to 2022, but the German club is likely to negotiate a longer contract with Ginter.

Mathias Ginter joined Borussia Mönchengladbach from Borussia Dortmund July 4 2017, for €17 million on a four-year-deal.

He made 31 appearances for Mönchengladbach in the 2019/2020 German Bundesliga season scoring a single goal.

Ginter was part of the German squad that won the World cup in Brazil 2014 and also winning the silver medal in Olympics at Rio de Jainero in 2016.
