It was a good start for newly invited Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Cyril Dessers in the Belgium Jupiler League with his new club RKC Genk, OJB Sport reports
Dessers joined Genk from the Dutch Eredivisie side Heracles Armelo this summer and has continue to underline his importance to the team since the commencement of preseason.
Action resumed in the Belgium Jupiler League and it was a sweet victory for Genk with Nigeria duo of Paul Onuachu and Cyril Dessers scoring in the vital win.
The opening half was for the host Zulte Waregem and they good played football with confidence and the organization was also good.
Genk, in turn, played too slow and sloppy, Essevee created the first danger through a long shot by De Bock that went just wide.
The Limburgers did not come out. Cyriel Dessers was caught in between of the Essevee defense.
Zulte Waregem got what it deserved with Olivier Deschacht climbed a corner higher than everyone else and put Zulte Waregem ahead with a handsome header.
Genk coach Hannes Wolf intervened early in the second half and brought in the tall Onuachu.
That intervention paid off, because Genk now came up with more men in the attack.
Dessers just headed over and a shot from Genk winger went through a defender into a corner.
Twenty minutes before the end, the pressure paid off. Cyriel Dessers took on two defenders and Onuachu took full advantage and his shot went in through the far post.
Dessers put the game beyond Zulte Warengem after Pletinckx handled the ball in box and the Nigeria scored the spot kick and secured a 1-2 win for the away side .
