Dayot Upamecano’s new contract with the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig include a release clause this is according to report from Kicker.
Dayot Upamecano extended his contract last month with RB Leipzig and has committed himself to the club till 2023.
The 21-year-old French defender was touted to leave the club, with the English club Arsenal showing interest in signing him, but has now put speculation about his future to bed. For now, at least.
Upamecano new contract at the Red Bull Arena has a release clause of €42 million which will be activated next summer this is according to Kicker.
The RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann spoke about the defender “He’s an exceptional defensive talent, who has an unbelievable amount of potential, He is super fast and has a huge body”.
RB Leipzig are delighted to have the Frenchman still working with them and will be keen for their Bundesliga season that is coming.
RB Leipzig paid €10 million to sign Upamecano from their Austrian sister-club RB Salzburg back in January 2017 signing a four and a half year contract.
RB Leipzig first game in the new Bundesliga 2020/2021 season will be against Mainz O5 at their home stadium Red Bull Arena and will be played September 19.
With the new additions to the RB Leipzig team(Hwang Hee Chan, Benjamin Henrichs on loan, Jean-Kevin Augustine, Malik Talabidi, Mads Bidstrup, Joseph Martinez), the bull team will look to compete with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the Bundesliga title.
