Brazilian winger Willian Borges has passed his medicals at Arsenal and is on the verge of sealing his move to the North London side this week.

The former Shaktar Donesk winger announced his exit from Chelsea on Sunday the 9th of August by writing an open letter on his social media handles to the Chelsea fans after seven years at Stamford Bridge.

“They were seven wonderful years. In August 2013 when I received the offer from Chelsea, I was convinced that this was where I had to play,” he said in a statement.

“Today I am certain that it was the best of decisions. There were so many happy times, some sad, there were trophies and it was always very intense.

“Yet, beyond the trophies, I learnt a lot about myself. I developed a great deal, becoming a better player and a better person.

“With each training session, with each game, with every minute spent in the dressing room, I was always learning.

“I am really grateful to the Chelsea fans for the affectionate way they welcomed me at Stamford Bridge and their support throughout my time at the club.

“There was also criticism, which is normal, what is important though is that both the affection and criticism drove me to always give my all in every training session, every game, to be constantly improving until my very last minute in a Chelsea shirt!”

The Sao Paulo born playmaker requested for a three-year deal for him to stay at Chelsea but the demand was turned down by the one time UCL winners who preferred a two-year deal instead.

The inability of Chelsea and Willian to reach a decision made Arsenal take advantage of it by giving him what he wanted.

According to reports, Willian is close to putting pen to paper on a three-year deal to become a Gunner, joining the team on a free after undergoing his medical at the team’s facility on Monday morning.

Da Silva will take a reduction from his wages as he received £120,000 while at Chelsea, when he officially joins Arsenal he will earn £100,000-a-week salary.

He’d be Mikel Arteta’s first signing of the 2020/2021 summer transfer window, with the Spanish gaffer hoping more of his targets come in before the window closes in October 2020.

The Club has told Mikel Arteta that he’d have to sell before he can spend this summer, putting a host of Arsenal players up for sale, including youngster Matteo Guendouzi who arrived the club last summer, Mesut Ozil, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Rob Holding and Sead Kolasinac.

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has been in the news lately liking him with a move to the Emirates, reports claim that the Gunners are open to selling Matteo Guendouzi to help raise fund in the range of £45m for the defensive midfielder.

In order to get rid of Mesut Ozil, the club would be willing to sell him but if offers don’t come or he refuses the offer then Arsenal would pay off the remainder of his £350,000-per-week contract to get the German out of the club just like Manchester United did with Alexis Sanchez.

After getting assured of having Willian in the team, Arsenal fans are hoping that their skipper and star man Pierre Emmeric Aubameyang sign a new contract.

The striker has stalled the signing of a new contract for most part of the season but after the Gunners qualified for the Europa League by winning the Emirates FA Cup he wants to stay. His gaffer Mikel Sets also confirmed that the Gabonese star is not leaving.
