Alexis Sanchez is expected to miss Inter’s Europa League semi-final against Shaktar Donetsk after being diagnosed with a thigh injury.

Sanchez was on loan to the Nerazzurris from the English premier league side Manchester United but the two clubs as agreed for him to join Inter on permanent basis next season.

The Chilean put a scintillating display against German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and sustained an injury in the meet contested encounter which Inter won 2-1.

After the game he was diagnosed with a thigh injury and is expected to miss the Europa League semi-final between Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk.

A statement from the club confirmed a slight strain of the hamstring in his right leg.

His condition will continue to be evaluated over the next few days.

That clash is due to take place on Monday evening as part of the Final Eight tournament in Germany.

It is unlikely the Chile international will recover in time for the semi-final.

In August 2019, Sánchez joined Inter Milan on loan for the duration of the 2019–20 season and Sánchez made his debut for Inter when he came on as a 79th minute substitute in a 1–0 win against his former club, Udinese.
