Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Javi Martinez have asked to leave the club this summer.

Karl-Heinz Runmenigge spoke to AZ saying “We know that he would like to leave the club if a suitable offer comes in for him”.

He added “And we wouldn’t put any obstacles in his way, because he has always been a good player and a reliable, serious person. We will always try to find a solution that suits the player”.

Javi Martinez have a year remaining on his contract with Bayern Munich and he isn’t keen on extending his contract.

Martinez had only made six start and ten appearances off the bench in the 2019/2020 German Bundesliga season. He came on as a substitute on Saturday in the Champions League second leg round 16 tie against Chelsea, he replaced Serge Gnabry on the 81st minutes.

The 31-year-old Spanish versatile midfielder joined Bayern Munich in 2013 from Spanish club Athletic Bilbao for €40 million.
