Karim Bellarabi has committed himself to the Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, by signing a new deal with the club.
The 30-year-old winger contract was due to expire next year, but have now extended his stay untill 2023.
Before extending his deal, back in April his agent said his client would be considering a move to English Premier League, if he doesn’t extend his stay at the Bay Arena.
Bayer Leverkusen Sporting director Rudi Völler said “We are pleased that we were able to agree on the continuation of our cooperation in very harmonious talks,”
“Karim has been with us since 2011 and has developed into an outstanding Bundesliga professional in his position here in Leverkusen. When he brings his high-speed football onto the pitch, he can really make a difference”.
Bellarabi made 39 appearances in the 2019/2020 season, scoring 6 goals and 12 assists.
Bellarabi also commented by saying “The sporting development I have gone through has a lot to do with the trust I have always been shown here at the club – especially at the beginning, when I was struggling with injuries as an unestablished player. I would like to continue to help us all achieve our sporting goals together in the future”.
Bayer Leverkusen played a quarter final game of the Europa League on Monday against Italian club Inter Milan in which they lost 2-1.
Leverkusen will now be preparing for the new Bundesliga season which will kick start September 18, their first game in the league will be against VFL Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena.
