Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger reportedly rejected a coaching job offer from Barcelona according to French outlet Le10 Sport.
Barcelona boss Quique setien has been tipped to lose his job this summer after failing to win the La Liga title.
The spanish club wanted Wenger to end his exile from the dugout and take over at the Nou Camp managerial role earlier this season, according to the report.
And according to sport Express , via Le10Sport Barcelona officials were planning to hire Wenger before the Champions League, but he wasn’t interested.
The former Arsenal coach Wenger, turned down the role because he was unimpressed with the club’s long-term plans.
The French man left Arsenal in 2018, and has been linked with multiple jobs since. He is still yet to return to the dugout after leaving the Gunners.
Wenger was given a technical role at UEFA , he has remained largely out of the sport but has been involve in some few pundit gigs.
xavi has been tipped to take over the managerial job at the end of this campaign, he is currently managing in the Qatari Super League, and recently admitted he was preparing to take over as manager at the Nou Camp.
It was reported that Setien will lose his job before the Champions League began, though it now appears the Spanish club are waiting to see how far Barca can go in the tournament before taking a final decision.
According to the same report, Barcelona also made an approach for Laurent Blanc, who hasn’t managed any club since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2016.
Setien’s was even in a more precarious situation last week after he opted against giving minutes to Ansu Fati and Riqui puig.
The Barcarlona coach have been under pressure after loosing the laliga title to Real Madrid.
