Ahead of the new Austria premier league season, TSV Hartberg has signed Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets skipper Tijani Samson on loan from RB Salzburg, OJB Sport reports.
Samson was one of the outstanding player at the 2019 FIFA U17 World cup in Brazil despite Nigeria side crashing out at the group stage losing 3-1 to Netherlands.
He signed a 5 year deal with Salzburg in June 2020 when he clocked 18 years and qualified to sign to professional contract.
Hartberg confirmed his capture on Thursday afternoon while the player also expressed his excitement moving to the club.
“Samson Okikiola Tijani (18) from Nigeria is on loan from FC Red Bull Salzburg to Hartberg for a year.
The defensive midfielder was signed by Salzburg and signed a contract until summer 2025. As captain of the U17s in his home country Nigeria, Tijani led to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup and the second round of the World Cup.
Before moving to Austria, Tijani played for Collins Edwin SC.
