Arsenal has announced through its official website the signing of Brazilian international winger Willian Borges.
Willian joins Arsenal on a three years deal following the expiration of his contract with Chelsea. The former Shakhtar Donetsk star spent seven years at Chelsea and won Two Premier league titles, FA Cup and also UEFA Europa league with the blues. He made over 339 appearances for Chelsea with 63 goals and 56 assists. He has over 70 caps for the Brazilian national team.
Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta expressed his delight on the acquisition of the experienced attacker and has this to say “I believe he’s a player that can really make a difference for us,” Mikel Arteta said. “We have been monitoring him for the past few months, we had a clear intention to strengthen in the attacking midfielder and the winger positions [and] he is a player that gives us a lot of versatility, he can play in three or four different positions.
He has the experience of everything in the football world but to still have the ambition to come here and contribute to bring the club where it belongs. I have been really impressed with all the talks I have had with him and how much he wanted to come.”
Willian has been assigned the number 12 jersey at Arsenal ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
