Italian club Napoli are set sign Arsenal and Greek centre back Sokratis according to reports from [@AlfredoPedulla].
The 32-year-old centre back joined Arsenal two seasons ago from Borussia Dortmund. After an impressive start to life in North London, Sokratis has suffered from lost of form and has cost the Arsenal team points from his individual mistakes on numerous occasions.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has not been able to enjoy a consistent game time since then as he has been limited to appearances in Cup competitions since Mikel Arteta took charge of the club. Sokratis has expressed his desire to leave the Emirates stadium as he is not comfortable with sitting on the bench week in week out.
Arsenal on the other hand are ready to cash in on the experience defender who they paid a reported 18million pounds for his acquisition under Unai Emery. The club is ready to sanction a move for the Greek should they receive a bid in the region of 8 million pounds as they look to clear out some fringe players in their squad to free up space for new acquisitions.
Napoli has reportedly initiated talks with Sokratis’s representative and Arsenal management in other to find an agreement for him to switch to Naples. Though nothing is advanced at the moment but talk are expected to accelerate more in coming weeks as every party involved in the negotiations are willing to make the move happen.
