Bayern Munich are closing on extending David Alaba contract with the club, this is according to the Board member Oliver Khan.
David Alaba just have a year remaining on his contract, he have also been stalling on a new deal but Kahn is optimistic of reaching an agreement.
Alaba as become a key player in defense ever since Hansi Flick became Bayern Munich coach, The 28-year-old Austrian have adapted from been a regular left back to a central defender and Flick will like to have him stay at the club.
Oliver Kahn was at a press conference on Thursday speaking to the reporter and he said “We are currently in frequent contact with David and his representatives,”
He also added “We are getting closer and are doing everything to keep him as a club. I’m very, very optimistic in this regard,”
Oliver Khan is next in line to be the new CEO of Bayern Munich once Karl Heinz Rummenigge’s contract with the club next year 31 December 2021.
Apart from a six-month loan at Hoffenheim, Alaba has spent his entire career at Bayern so far, making a total of 385 appearances for the club with 31 goals and 48 assists to his name.
