Chelsea has agreed a fee of 50 million pounds to sign English left back Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.
The 23-year-old defender who came through the Foxes’s academy has been a target for Frank Lampard after the Chelsea Boss was not impressed with the club’s current left backs Marcus Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.
Ben Chilwell is an energetic modern day left back who has the ability to join attack at any given opportunity and also defend cleverly when called upon to. He has also won 11 caps for the England National team so far.
Leicester is not under any pressure to sanction a move for Chilwell as he is still under contract with Brendan Roger’s side until 2024. But after Leicester was unable to qualify for Champions league football next season having finished fifth on the log, the defender has informed the club of his desire to leave in other to play in the European elite competition which Chelsea would offer next season.
Leicester initial value of Chilwell was reported to be 80 million pounds but has now agreed to sell him for 50 million to Chelsea due to the defender’s persistence to leave his boyhood club.
It has been a very busy summer for Chelsea’s Boss Frank Lampard having brought in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner he is also keen on Bayern Leverkusen’s Harvert as he look to build a very strong squad that can able to challenge for Epl tittle come next season.
