For the very first time in the history of the club Spezia has secure a promotion to Italia Serie A despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to Frosinone, OJB Sport reports.

The Ligurians lost 1-0 against Frosinone but it was enough to take them to the top flight after the 1-0 win at the Benito Stirpe last Saturday.

Spezia had the best League position and therefore the draw on aggregate means that Vincenzo Italiano’s team have reached Serie A for the first time since the Second World War.

An intense first half at the Stadio Alberto Picco ended without goals, but the visitor came closest through Andrea Beghetto, who rattled the woodwork.

Alessandro Nesta’s men had a few chances but couldn’t find a way through a compact Spezia side, who went into the break just 45 minutes away from promotion to Serie A.

Vincenzo Italiano’s men started the second half on a positive note, but Frosinone kept knocking and eventually grabbed the lead after 62 minutes.

Camillo Ciano found Marcus Rohden with a back-heel flick and the midfielder beat goalkeeper Simone Scuffet and pulled Frosinone level, but it wasn’t enough to help Frosinone win promotion, as the visitors needed to win by two goals to win promotion.
