Former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld reflected on Sunday’s Champions League final that saw Bayern Munich defeat Paris Saint Germain 1-0.
The Bundesliga Champions made it their sixth time winning the Champions League, with the only goal in the match coming from the French man Kingsley Coman.
Hitzfeld told Kicker “It was a very good game with very good individual players,”
He also added “As a team, Bayern Munich were more safe on the ball, more cohesive and more precise. Both teams had good chances during the 90 minutes. All in all, I thought it was an excellent game.”
At the end of the day, Hitzfeld believed that the Bavarians were deservedly winners of the Champions League for the first time since 2013.
Hitzfeld said “Overall, Bayern played an outstanding Champions League season. They didn’t show any weaknesses. All 11 players defend and attack. They are unbelievably homogeneous, plus they have players with individual quality, who can decide games,”
When Hitzfeld was a coach, he won the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in 1997 and with Bayern in 2001.
