Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are interested in doing business with Arsenal but it’s not what Arsenal fans think as they are prepared to let one of three players join Arsenal in a player swap deal to get French man Alexandre Lacazette.
The Madrid based club have shown strong interest in signing the former Lyon man this summer but they have financial constraints which is preventing them from doing business with Arsenal on a straight cash deal.
The Gunners are interested in signing Atletico midfielder Thomas Partey, unfortunately for Arsenal he is not part of the players Diego Simeone is proposing in the exchange deal to bring Lacazette to the Wanda Metropolitano.
According to Marca, the only deal Atletico are interested in doing with Arsenal is a player-plus-cash deal that enables Arsenal pick any of Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa or Vitolo as part of the deal.
French man Lemar was once on Arsenal’s radar, he almost became a Gunner when Arsenal tabled an offer to his former club Monaco in 2017.
The France international had a clumsy season where he failed to score a single goal or assist in 29 appearances.
The two remaining players Angel Correa and Vitolo are forwards also just like Lemar and Arteta might fancy one of them.
25-year old Correa recorded his name on the score sheet seven times for the Rojiblancos last term, while Vitolo who’s 30 years of age nicked in just three goals.
This is not the first time Athleti have offered this kind of deal, they brought it in January 2020 but Arsenal rejected the offer back then due to the fact that they were not under duress to sell Alexandre Lacazette who still has two years left on his contract.
Lacazette,29, hasn’t really been a starter since Mikel Arteta took charge as manager but towards the end of the season after the restart he got back to the first XI due to a red card Nketia got in the match against Leicester City and even when Eddie got back he still maintained that spot.
This time represents Arsenal’s best chance of selling a player who was once their club transfer fee holder for a reasonable fee.
Atletico Madrid have other options in case Arsenal don’t accept their terms and Alexandre Lacazette isn’t short of options as Italian Serie A giants Juventus are also interested in him.
