New Bayern Munich signing Leroy Sané have made it clear that his favorite position is on the right wing, but say it’s not a problem to play on the left wing.
Although he was mostly used as a left winger under Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after his move from Schalke in 2016, Sané insists he actually prefers to play on the opposite side of the pitch.
Sané was interviewed by Kicker “I usually played on the left at City, but as a youth player and at Schalke, I played on the right. My favorite position is on the right wing. I feel most comfortable there. But I have no problem with playing on the left,”
He also added “Pep helped me to learn how to play on either wing. That helped me take a step forward. Many players can only play on one side,”
“I learned a lot from Pep Guardiola, especially when it comes to positional play, perception of the game and attacking and defensive behavior. He reprogrammed the way I play.”
Leroy Sané spent most of his time last season in Manchester city on the recovery table after his ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) got ruptured, he was only able to make one English premiership appearance for “The Citizens.”
In June 2020, Sané rejected to extend his contract with The Citizen’s, this made Guardiola announce the departure of the German speedstar.
Bayern Munich signed the 24-year-old German attacker from Manchester city for €45 million in July, with the amount rising to €60 million through add-ons.
At Bayern Munich Sané will face competition from the likes of Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman.
Leroy Sané is part of the Germany squad listed by the national team coach Joachim Löw for next month UEFA Nations League.
