Dayot Upamecano admits he has been speaking to other clubs despite extending his contract with RB Leipzig to 2023.

Upamecano have been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, he spoke to reporter on Tuesday (via goal.com)


“I have extended my contract with Leipzig. I am targeted by several clubs, I speak with clubs, but I have time. We will see what happens in the future.” 

The French man extended his contract with RB Leipzig in July to 2023, his contract was due to expire in 2021.

According to Kicker the new contract includes a clause of €42 million which will be active next summer

The 21-year-old defender have just been recently called up to the France national team for the first time in which he is proud to be in the squad

He said “The senior French team is a dream for me. I have played with all of the youth national teams. I dreamed of coming to the castle. Now, I’m there. My work has been rewarded, I’m proud of myself,”

“It’s not easy to have this competition, but it’s even better for my progress to work with great players like [Raphael] Varane, [Presnel] Kimpembe and [Clement] Lenglet who have experience and played a lot of big matches.”

Upamecano will be hoping for a chance to play for his country, As France will be playing Sweden September 5 and also against Croatia September 8.
