An autopsy will be carried on former U20 Nigeria goalkeeper John Felagha who died Mysteriously.
According to BBC Sport Africa, Aspire Academy told BBC Sport Africa that he was found on the floor of his room, repeated cycles of compression of the chest and artificial respiration was reportedly administered to him but it came out to no avail, and he was pronounced dead on the spot.
“His teammates found him on the floor of his room,” said Sam Ahmedu, director of Aspire academy in Nigeria.
“He collapsed and so it could be related to heart issues. But we are waiting for the autopsy result.
“For a young boy to pass at 26, is very sad,” he added.
“The academy is deeply saddened by this loss. We will continue to remember him”.
John Felagha was part of the Nigeria U17 team that finished second at the 2009 Fifa U17 World Cup hosted on home soil and was also a member of the Nigeria U20 squad that travelled to Turkey for the 2013 Fifa U20 World Cup.
