Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is set to give Mesut Ozil a second chance to revive his Arsenal career following a long absent from the squad according to reports from @Mark Irwin.
Ozil has always been dividing opinions since his then club record 42m pounds move to the Emirates in the 2013/2014 season. There’s never a doubt in the abilities or talent of the playmaker who on his day is very unplayable and can slipt any defence with his eye catching passes.
Inconsistency has been the main issue with him since his move to England. Many English pundits believes he is lazy and lack the energy to play for a top Premier league club while others believed that if surrounded with the wright players that Mesut Ozil is magnificent.
The former Real Madrid star has not featured competitively for the club since the project restart last season. Despite been a key starter in Mikel Arteta’s squad during the early stages of his appointment as Arsenal boss, Ozil was frozen out of the team after the project restart with the club siting back injury as the reason for his absence.
Ozil is Arsenal’s highest paid player and many Arsenal fans feels that the former World Cup winner is not deserving of the wages he is earning at the club as his performances on the pitch does not justify his income. The club board members has tried on numerous occasions to move Ozil out of the club but the 31-year-old midfielder has been reluctant to leave as he is very comfortable with life in London and likes the club as well and wouldn’t want to take a pay-cut to move anywhere.
The upcoming season seems like it’s going to be a time for a change of fortune at the Emirates for Mesut Ozil. He has already returned to the club for Pre season training and was in action when Arsenal faced Aston Villa last weekend at the Emirates stadium.
The Guardian has now reported that Mikel Arteta has decided to install the German playmaker back to the squad this season rather than having him sit at home and be taking his huge wages. The same source has also reported that Ozil could as well be in the squad for Arsenal’s Premier league opener this weekend against fellow London neighbours Fulham.
