Nigeria international David Okereke has tested positive for coronavirus.
His Belgian club, Club Brugge announced on their website today that the 23-year-old has contracted COVID-19 and has immediately been quarantine.
The statement reads:
“Attacker David Okereke took a positive Corona test this (Tuesday) morning.
“The attacker was immediately quarantined and will be retested next week.”
The Super Eagles forward becomes the third Nigeria international to contract the pandemic of a disease after Genk’s Paul Onuachu and Bordeaux’s Samuel Kalu who have both recovered.
Due to this development, he won’t be available for the club’s next league fixture against Zulte-Waregem on Sunday.
Okereke was on target at the weekend, he opened his goalscoring account for the new season in Brugge’s 4-1 win over Waasland-Beveren.
