Lionel Messi has become the world’s second football billionaire after Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Barcelona captain’s billionaire mark was confirmed by American magazine Forbes after topping the list of top earners for the 2020.

Messi joins Juventus forward and eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo as the only soccer players to have ever reach the billionaire mark.

The 33-year-old earnings shows a total amount of $126m (£98m) in 2020 which is $92m (£71.6m) in salary and $34m (£26.4m) in endorsements.

Ronaldo is second with earnings of $117m (£91m). Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is in third place with a purported earning of $96m, Kylian Mbappe is fourth with $42m while Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah completes the top five with an earning of $37m.
