Oyo State is set to be thrilled with some sporting frenzy this weekend as the fourth edition of the Asiwajuniwa Cycling Racing Events will go down between the 25th of September, 2020 to 27th of September, 2020.

The tournament which is mainly sponsored by Bright Future Cycling Club, Oyo State but in collaboration with the Oyo State Sports Council and the Oyo State Cycling Association has been tagged Discovery New Talent.

In order to engage youths and provide an avenue for them to show their skills and potentials, the three days cycling sportive is opened to all male and female categories, professionals and veterans inclusive.

The event will see the arrival of athletes and pre-race meeting on 25th September, while the competition proper will come up on Saturday, 26th September and Sunday 27th September 2020.

The event will feature both the team and the road race with distances of 15km, 30km, 40km and 50km to be covered.

Speaking with Pensioners FM’s sports enthusiast Raymond Tolulope on the programme Sports Drill, member of the Oyo State cycling coach, Akinola Oluwaseyi stated that “main objective of the event is to discover new talent in cycling, to promote cycling in the state, to promote cycling in local government and West Africa.”

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Bright Future Cycling Club, Phillips Martins also said; “We are bringing this event because we want to bring in new and talented cyclist, we want to develop more and more strength in the people living in our society.”

This event will be the first major sporting event to hold in Oyo state after the coronavirus pandemic.
