Wolves have announced the signing of right-back Nelson Semedo from Barcelona in a deal worth nearly £37m, including potential add-ons.
The Portuguese International has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Molineux until June 2023, with an option to extend it to June 2025. He joined as a replacement for the Republic of Ireland international right-back Matt Doherty who joined fellow Premier league side Tottenham on a four-year-deal last month.
The 26-year-old right back won two La Liga titles and the Cope del Rey following his move to Barcelona from Benfica in 2017, played 42 times for Barcelona last season.
Samedo expressed his delight on the move to the Molenieux Stadium and has this to say “I choose wolves because its a very good team Last year they did a very good season and it’s a very important team in England, in also Europe. I hope this year we can do very good things.”
The former Benfica man is a modern day right-back who has the ability to also influence the game in the opponents half, he is blessed with a good pace and physicality as well and wouldn’t find it much difficult to adapt to the English football.
