ŠKF Sereď and Super Eagles newly invited goalkeeper Mattew Yakubu has clearly declared his intention to be the future number one goalkeeper of the National team.

The young star who started his football career with Pepsi Academy Zaria, Frontliners Zaria and then moved to Cliquesport in Oworonshoki Lagos, was expressive during an exclusive interview with OJBSPORT.

When questioned, the Zaria born was optimistic about the possibility of being the future number one goalkeeper of the Super Eagles.

I will give my best in the training session and try to work hard day by day to see if I will get the chance to be the number one, I am keeping my fingers crossed till we get there.” He confidently declared.

Yakubu will be rivalling Maduka Okoye who recently joined Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam and Dele Alampasu who plays for Ventspils in the Latvian higher League.

The ŠKF Sereď shot stopper didn’t hide his admiration for the former Super Eagles legendary goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama,

“I really like Enyeama a lot, I do watch his videos before going to games and he is my favorite Super Eagles goalkeeper.”

The Super Eagles will take on the Elephants of Cote d’l voire on October 9, before facing the Tunisians.

Nigeria beat the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia to win the bronze medal at the last Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Egypt.

Both matches will be played in Austria as the three countries prepare for the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
